U16 Girls Win Silver in Provinicals
The Wolves have had a very successful season bringing home silver in both indoor and outdoor provincials this year in Tier II Soccer. There most recent silver medal was won in Sherwood Park August 13th to 15th. The Wolves started the tournament Friday night with a 3-0 win against the Calgary NSD Saints with goals from Taylor Watson, Sydney Williams and Kiana Cowger. The Wolves faced a familiar rival in the second game the next day against the Calgary Chinook Athletico team which went to a 0-0 tie. The last game on Saturday the Wolves needed to rack up the goals as they were only one point ahead of Chinook Athletico with both teams needing to the ball in the back of the net to get to the gold medal game. The Wolves ended up winning the game 4-2 over the Edmonton Extreme with goals from Taylor Watson, Kiana Cowger and Kennedy Hall (2) and had to wait another 10 anxious minutes to see if they would be moving on to the gold medal final. With a first place finish in their pool the Wolves moved on to the gold medal match. The Wolves played a great game of soccer but could not find the back of net and lost 5-0 to Calgary Sevilla.
