Grande Prairie, AB – Your local Tim Hortons is proud to present the 1st Annual Timbits Minor Soccer Jamboree on Saturday March 27, 2010, at the GPSA fields located at 11319 105 Street . This all day, non-competitive event will host 350 Timbits players from the U4, U6, and U8 initiation programs across the City who will play before a crowd of approximately 500 fans.
The Timbits Soccer Program, which was introduced over 17 years ago in Canada, enjoys such success that it has now grown to over 80,000 kids across Canada. These entry-level players, between the ages of 4 and 9 years, learn the basic skills of the game, and more importantly, the first goal is having fun.
“The Timbits Jamboree will reinforce the fair play and fun aspects of the game in a non-competitive environment,” says Serge Allard, local Tim Hortons Store Owner. “At the end of each game played by a team, every player will receive a participation medal to signify his or her involvement and success in the program. Timbits Soccer isn’t about winning or losing – but taking the time out to be a kid.”
The Jamboree will begin at 10:00 a.m. There will be over 40 teams participating in the event! As well, there will be plenty of additional entertainment throughout the day including: face painting, tattoos, mascot participation, carnival, and complimentary coffee on a first come first serve basis.
Currently, there are approximately 800 Timbits sponsored soccer players within Grande Prairie.
