Christine McIntyre Award

Alana Sieben - Recipient of the 2014-2015 Christine McIntyre Award

Message from Alana's Peers

Alana has been playing soccer for most of her life, which is reflected when she plays! She always shows great sportsmanship both on and off the pitch and genuinely loves her team and the game of soccer. Congratulations Alana, for not only being nominated but also as the recipient of the award.

Christine McIntyre - fondly remembered as Mac by her soccer colleagues - was an energetic, kind-hearted, loyal player who was dedicated to playing soccer. Despite her under-5 foot stature, she was tough contender and played every game with passion and determination. Her dedication went beyond just playing, as she was a certified referee remembered as being fair and always willing to help out. Christine tragically lost her life in a motorcycle accident at 23 years of age.

Each season, in Macs memory, a womens league player is selected to receive the Christine McIntyre Most Sportsmanlike Player Award.

Eligibility:

1. This individual must have played in the current season in the Grande Prairie Womens Soccer League. (GPWSL)
2. The individual must be a registered player and in good standings of GPWSL and GPSA.
3. This individual must have made a positive contribution to the game of soccer, demonstrated by practicing fair play and exhibited an exceptional sportsmanlike behavior.

Stirling Goalie Award

Charlene Deneyoua - Recipient of the 2014-2015 Stirling Goalie Award.

Message from Charlene's Peers

Charlene has played Soccer for as long as she can remember. When the Tornadoes was in need of a Keeper, Charlene stepped into the goal with little experience. Charlene, with the hard knocks of the game, pulled herself through and has become one of the best goalies in our league.

Heather Stirling was a dedicated goalie who played in the Grande Prairie Womens soccer league for over a decade. Her love for the sport was contagious. She has been described as the player that took care of the team. Heather always had extra equipment, water, Kleenex, whatever you needed she had in her bag. She was a true team player.

Each season, in Heathers memory, a womens league player is selected to receive the Stirling Goalie award.

Eligibility:

1. This individual must have played in the current season in the Grande Prairie Womens Soccer League. (GPWSL)

2. The individual must be a registered player and in good standings of GPWSL and GPSA.

3. This individual must have made a positive contribution to the game of soccer in Grande Prairie through goaltending. She must also show extreme dedication to both her team and the game of soccer.
